Shuhaimi Shafiei, Selangor's Seri Muda state assemblyman had instigated the people to hate the Institution of Malay Rulers on his blog.

Today, more than 7 police reports had been lodged over his statement which allegedly insulted the Sultan of Selangor.

Umno Youth, MCA and MIC Kota Raja Division in addition to 4 reports by non-govermental organisations; Persatuan Bugis Selangor, the Klang Branch of Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa), Gabungan Anti-Penyelewengan Selangor (GAPS) and Pusat Komuniti Andalas.

Nur Azman Anuarul Perai, Kota Raja Barisan National Youth had this to say about the Shuhaimi's statement in the latter's blog http://srimuda.blogspot.com.

"I believe Shuhaimi made the statement with the intention to incite hatred in the people and give a negative perception of the institution of Malay Rulers, which can undermine national security and public order".

Raja Ahmad Raja Datuk Abdul Wahid, the Chairman for Persatuan Bugis Selangor said that Selangor's government acts of questioning the appointment of Mohd Khusrin as the state secretary was tantamount to treason.

32-year-old engineer Azwan Ismail recently release a video clip titled "Saya gay, saya okay".

That clip, uploaded on Seksualiti Merdeka's YouTube channel had attracted 116,127 views and 2,500 comments .

Seksualiti Merdeka is an annual festival on sexuality organised by a coalition of non-governmental organisations.

The nearly three-minute long video saw Azwan, who is also a writer, saying: "I am confident that things will be better. We have to gather our strengths from around us because there people who can help us and give us the confidence to be ourselves, to face our future..."

Seksualiti Merdeka coordinator Pang Khee Teik said the project was brought to Malaysia to highlight the importance of the message and relevance to the country's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community.

Meanwhile, his gross acts of indulging in homosexuality had been recognised internationally when he was amongst the Gay Rights Hero of 2010 in change.org.

He is listed as number 9 on the list and is the only non-Westerner who had received the recognition. The organisation’s editor Michael Jones hoped Azwan’s “voice will open doors for others in the country to speak up for LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) rights”.

Alcatel agrees to settle bribery case

WASHINGTON: Alcatel Lucent SA has agreed to pay more than US$137mil to settle US charges that it paid millions of dollars in bribes to foreign officials to win business in Latin America and Asia, US authorities said on Monday.

The telecommunications equipment maker was accused of making payments to government officials in countries including Costa Rica, Honduras, Taiwan and Malaysia to win or keep contracts worth tens of millions of dollars, the Securities and Exchange Commission and Justice Department said.

Between December 2001 and June 2006, the company used consultants who funneled more than US$8mil in bribes to officials, and Alcatel also improperly hired third-party agents in countries like Nigeria to help win deals, authorities said. — Reuters

Overall, the company admitted it earned about US$48.1mil in profits as a result of the improper payments, the Justice Department said. — Reuters

Khairy confirms he won’t defend Rembau seat

PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has confirmed speculation on social networking site Twitter that he will not defend his Rembau seat in the next general election.

When asked to verify the speculation that he might not contest in the 13th general election, Khairy replied “yes” via SMS.

He had earlier created quite a buzz in Twitter when he sent a tweet about taking a break from politics.

“Hope to help win more youth support for BN (Barisan Nasional) in 2011 & work hard preparing for elections. Then I’m taking a break from politics. Can’t wait,” Khairy wrote on Twitter.

His tweet generated much response from his followers who wondered if the Rembau MP was not going to defend his seat in the 13th general election.

“I would like to ‘stand down’ as they say in the UK. A couple of things I’d like to do before it gets too late,” tweeted Khairy in response to a follower who asked him what he meant by a “break”.

Asked how long he planned to be away from politics, Khairy replied: “Indefinite. Not sure what I will be doing. A few things I want to do like go back to school.”

Khairy first mentioned the possibility of not defending his seat in an interview with a newsportal last July.

At that time, he clarified his statement a day later, saying he was only mulling the possibility and that he had yet to make a firm decision on the matter.

This 'beruk dalam Google' is really a kill joy when he said he was only mulling on the possibility.
